Gridfinity for Milwaukee Packout Drawers
This page sizes a planner and split baseplate to a Milwaukee Packout 3-drawer tool box drawer. You can arrange bins, generate printable parts, and export them for free in your browser, with no account.

What Gridfinity layout fits a Packout drawer?
A Milwaukee PACKOUT 3-Drawer Tool Box drawer takes a 9 by 7 Gridfinity grid. Gridfinity uses a 42 mm grid, so 9 units measure 378 mm and 7 units measure 294 mm.
| Drawer | Inside size | Grid | Spare space |
|---|---|---|---|
| Milwaukee PACKOUT 3-Drawer Tool Box (48-22-8443) | 414 by 317.5 by 76 mm | 9 by 7, or 378 by 294 mm | 36 mm wide and 23.5 mm deep |
The planner link opens a new layout already sized to 414 by 317.5 by 76 mm. A first-time visitor gets these dimensions in the empty starting layout instead of receiving a second layout. If you already have layouts, the tool keeps them.
In the planner, you can drag bins onto the grid, stack layers, color-code bins by category, and get a print list. Bins are generated in your browser and export as STL, STEP, or 3MF.
Measure your drawer before printing
Measure your own drawer before printing. The 414 by 317.5 by about 76 mm interior comes from one published spec, while Milwaukee's product page for the PACKOUT 3-Drawer Tool Box does not list drawer dimensions.
Measured 3-drawer boxes accept the 9 by 7 grid, which agrees with that published interior size. Still, checking takes less time than reprinting a baseplate. Measure the clear inside width, depth, and height with a ruler or tape measure.
The Packout 2-drawer and 4-drawer boxes differ from the 3-drawer box. Use the drawer calculator with your own measurements when planning either one.
How tall can the bins be?
If your drawer measures about 76 mm high, use bins up to 10 units on a plain baseplate or 9 units with magnet holes. Gridfinity height units are 7 mm, so a 10-unit bin is 70 mm tall.
A bin's base sits down inside the baseplate pockets, so a plain baseplate adds no height beneath it. The bin's stacking lip adds 4.4 mm above its listed height. That makes a 10-unit bin 74.4 mm tall, which fits under a 76 mm drawer ceiling.
Magnet holes add 2.5 mm of floor beneath the bins. That comes from a 2 mm magnet over a 0.5 mm retaining floor. A 10-unit bin with magnet holes would stand 76.9 mm tall, which is too tall for this drawer. The tallest standard bin with magnet holes is therefore 9 units.
These limits apply if your drawer measures the same. Check its height with a ruler before choosing and printing the tallest bins.
Make a baseplate that fits your printer
The sized baseplate leaves 18 mm of padding on each side and 11.75 mm at the front and back. That evenly centers the 378 by 294 mm grid within the 414 by 317.5 mm drawer.
You can change the padding anchor to move the bins to the back, front, either side, or center. This lets you collect the spare space into one strip instead of dividing it around the grid.
The generator automatically splits the baseplate into pieces that fit the print bed size set in the tool. On a 256 mm print bed, this Packout baseplate splits into 6 pieces printed in 3 build-plate loads.
Magnets are worth adding in a box that gets carried around because they hold bins to the baseplate. Add magnet holes to both the baseplate and bins. The trade is one height unit in this drawer, so use bins up to 9 units instead of 10.
Choose your next step
Browse the named drawer sizes for more ready-sized layouts, or enter another drawer in the drawer calculator.
Use the bin generator to create standard bins. For hand tools and other specific shapes, use the cutout generator to make shaped cavities. The tool drawer guide covers the full process for organizing a tool drawer.
